Overlooking the Napa River in the Architectural Heritage District, this antique-filled 1890 Queen Ann Victorian has a living room, formal dining room, chef's kitchen, four bedrooms, a study, two bathrooms, and a breakfast/laundry room. One fully furnished bedroom (with either a Queen or a Full bed) is available. The rooms are on the small side, but have antique bedroom sets with high-end bedding and two large windows.
The perimeter of the property is lined with just about every kind of fruit and nut tree imaginable, and the garden is bursting with vegetables, flowers, and berries. The home's wrap-around porch is complete with a bistro set, loveseat, and chaise lounge -- perfect for catching the breeze and relaxing among roses, wisteria, and camellias. The back yard offers additional comfortable seating, al fresco dining, a swing, gas grill, and, tucked into a private corner, a three-person hot tub.
Street parking is plentiful, and laundry facilities are available for your use. There are two refrigerators, a gas stove, a convection oven, and all the other appliances, cookware, and utensils you will need. All areas of the house can access Wi-Fi with a password, which will be provided. You use your own cell phone for all calls, and food is not shared unless invited. You are welcome to the use lemons and herbs from the garden in your cooking.
A friendly yellow lab and ginger cat also occupy the premises, so allergy sufferers are out of luck, but both are polite and well cared for, and they do their business discretely with the use of an automatic pet door (no litter box!).
Renters have access to the entire house except for the master bedroom. Both the upstairs bath (with a claw-foot tub) and downstairs bath (with a giant soaking tub and separate shower) are available for use, and on-demand hot water is plentiful. Space is available for stowing away your clothes in drawers, but there is limited closet space, unless pre-arranged. Some storage is possible in the attic. The house is fully furnished and decorated, and additional furniture is not welcome. Renters are asked not to change the décor in any way or rearrange the furnishings.
This is a quiet and peaceful household with a mature owner, who works away from the home three days a week and maintains a low-key, private lifestyle. As with many old houses, this one is a work in progress. Though extremely beautiful and comfortable as is, improvements are always being made.
This listing is for one mature and quiet Touro University student, intern, or faculty member only, to share the household with the owner and the occasional Air BnB guest. Any smoking must take place outdoors. Drugs of any kind are not tolerated, and only moderate use of alcohol is permitted on the property. No parties, and no additional guests are allowed without preapproval. Additional pets are permitted only in very special prearranged circumstances. The cleaning fee is $50 for stays of 1 month or more, and a security deposit and references are required. Please respond with your Touro email account. More photos are available by request.
